What Is a Gorumara Elephant Safari?

The Gorumara Elephant Safari is a unique wildlife experience inside Gorumara National Park, offering visitors the chance to explore dense forests while riding on the back of a trained elephant. It provides a rare opportunity to get close to one-horned rhinoceroses, Indian bison (gaur), deer, and sometimes even wild elephants in their natural habitat.

Closer wildlife encounters with rhinos and bison.

Quiet, non-disruptive movement through the jungle.

A safe and family-friendly option, guided by experienced mahouts.

A chance to experience the forest like ancient explorers once did.

“A majestic elephant with tourists in a howdah walking through tall grass, with one-horned rhinos, Indian bison, and peacocks in the background, soft morning sunlight, cinematic nature view.”

This is an important question, especially for responsible travelers. In Gorumara, elephants used for safaris are also part of the forest department’s anti-poaching and monitoring teams. They are not overworked and are handled by experienced mahouts who ensure their well-being.
